UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in his last General Assembly address before stepping down at the end of this year, also touched on the situation between Israel and the Palestinians in his speech, warning that “replacing a two-state with a one-state solution would spell doom: denying Palestinians their freedom and rightful future and pushing Israel further from its vision of a Jewish democracy toward greater global isolation.”
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon commented on the remarks of the UN secretary general, saying: “Instead of focusing on Palestinian terror and incitement and instead of compelling Mahmoud Abbas to return to the negotiating table, the secretary general chose to criticize Israel once again.”
