UN accuses ‘Israeli occupation’ of crushing the Palestinian economy

The United Nations lashed out at the Jewish state, accusing the ‘Israeli occupation’, of what the world body defined as ‘Palestinian territories’, of causing major damage to the Palestinian economy. The United Nations Development Program published a report that lists the ways in which Israel allegedly crushes the Palestinian economy, including through confiscation of lands and water sources, restrictions on the movement of people and goods, the demolition of houses, and the expansion of Jewish settlements on lands the International community does not recognize as part of Israel. The UN report says that the Palestinian economy could double if the Israeli occupation were to end. The report states further that 90% of the houses in Gaza that were damaged during the last round of fighting between Israel and the Islamist organizations in the Palestinian enclave have not yet been rebuilt and that 75,000 residents remain homeless.
