A senior American official close to President Donald Trump revealed that “the Trump administration considers itself committed to moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” noting that it “will be done in a responsible and orderly manner.” The official stressed that “for the American president, moving the embassy is one of the subjects that are at the top of his priorities, even if it does not take place tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, with regard to Trump’s pledge to bolster the relations between Washington and Jerusalem, after strongly criticizing former President Barack Obama’s policy toward the Jewish state, the White House released a statement, which reads “We intend to restore the special relationship between Israel and the United States and to ensure that this relationship, which is based on shared interests and values, will be as close as it was in the past.”
The statement further reads, “The President expects to develop close personal relations with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of the joint effort to reach peace, prosperity and security.”
