Syrian opposition claims that Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jets, which Israel recently received from the United States, fired missiles at the Mezzeh military airport, after which they carried out four attacks in the area, before returning to Israel. The Syrian opposition’s news agency, Qasioun, reported that several fatalities were recorded among Assad’s troops. According to the Syrian military the Israeli Air Force circled the area of the Sea of Galilee, rather than entering Syrian airspace, and fired the missiles that hit the military airport from there. The fire that broke out at the airport warehouses could be seen clearly in pictures from the Damascus area. The Syrian military issued a statement warning Israel that the attack would have consequences. This is the second attack on the Damascus military airport attributed to Israel within a month. The IDF did not respond to the allegations.
