Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Moscow is willing to cooperate with Washington on Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow is ready to cooperate with Washington on settling the Syria crisis, after Jordan’s King Abdullah stressed that cooperation between Russia and the United States was vital for bringing an end to the bloody Syrian conflict. “We have many times heard his majesty King Abdullah II (of Jordan) saying that cooperation between Russian and the United States on setting the Syrian crisis, has crucial meaning for the actions of the international community. And I assure you that we are fully ready for that and hope for the same approach by Washington,” said Lavrov.
The announcement by the Russian top diplomat comes as relations between Washington and Moscow reached yet another low after the United States fired missiles at Syria to punish Moscow’s ally for its suspected use of chemical weapons earlier in April. Nevertheless, Russia continues to pursue cooperation with the Trump administration, reiterating periodically that it stands ready to renew cooperation on Syria, as well as globally, on fighting terrorism.
