US President Donald Trump declared, in an exclusive interview to Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, that the United States did not need European support if Washington were to decide to increase sanctions or withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran. When President Trump was asked if Europe would support his in terms of sanctions, the American leader said, “Honestly, I told them. They’re friends of mine. They really are. I get along with all of them. Whether it’s Emmanuel, or whether it’s Angela, I get along — I really like those people. I told them, ‘just keep making money. Don’t worry about it. We don’t need you on this. ‘You just keep making money’. When Iran buys things from Germany and from France and from the various — you know, by billions of dollars — even us, they were going to buy Boeings. I don’t know what’s going to happen with the deal. We’ll see what happens with the deal, but — but when they buy those things, it’s a little harder for those countries to do something. Would they do it if I really was insistent? I believe they would. I told them ‘just keep making money. ‘Don’t worry. We don’t need you on this one.'”
The statement by President Trump came after he informed the US Congress that they have 60 days to decide whether to re-impose economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic that were lifted under the international nuclear deal, which was agreed upon in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 – which included the United States under the Obama Administration, Russia, China, France, Britain plus Germany.
