The so-called “Fatah Coalition” parliamentary bloc in Iraq that represents the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces has declared that it holds the United States fully responsible for the alleged Israeli attacks on Iranian warehouses of weapon stockpiles.
The Fatah Coalition, which is also supported by the Islamic Republic, called on the Baghdad Central Government to counter the alleged “Western aggression” by immediately demanding an American military withdrawal from Iraq. It is important to note that the United States has rejected any involvement in the strikes against the Iranian ammunition facilities that were located operating in Iraq.
In a written statement to TV7, the U.S. Central Command, responsible for Washington’s military operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, underscored that it “operate(s) in Iraq at the invitation of the Government of Iraq and (complies) with their laws and direction.” Earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the U.S. is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation conducted by Iraqi authorities.
Despite allegations of involvement from Iranian-backed Iraqi officials, neither Israel nor the United States was behind most of the attacks in Iraq. According to an informed intelligence source who spoke to TV7 on condition of anonymity, ‘Israel was responsible for an attack against an Iranian installation mid-July.’ The source further insisted that ‘The Americans were informed of the operation, yet they were not involved.’ That said, the source emphasized that the latest deadly explosions in Iraq were not carried out by Israel.
We will unveil additional information on the matter in our Jerusalem Studio program slated to be broadcast Friday August 30th at 8:30 PM on TV7 and at 9 PM on our TV7 Israel News’ YouTube Channel.
