Hours after Prime Minister Netanyahu announced an agreement with the United Nations on relocating thousands of migrants from Israel to “western countries,” the Israeli leader proclaimed that after re-evaluating the pros and cons of the deal, he decided to backtrack his decision.
The decision to scrap the agreement has shocked activists and migrants, whom viewed the deal with the United Nations as a positive development that would have given thousands of other illegal migrants the right to stay in Israel.
Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized in a statement on his Facebook page that while the decision to cancel the agreement continues to challenge Jerusalem with legal trials on the matter of deporting illegal migrants from Africa; the search for alternative solutions will continue to assure the best interests of the Jewish state are kept.
