Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, during a closed meeting with senior cabinet ministers and Knesset members of his ruling Likud party, that he does not anticipate elections would be moved up due to the police investigations against him. Netanyahu asserted that the police investigations were as part of an attempt to persecute him and an aspired aim by various political forces to topple his right-wing government. The Prime Minister added that there was nothing new about those efforts, which he emphasized had been under-way for many years. Netanyahu continued by saying that he is not afraid of the accusations leveled against him and referred to the allegations of breach of trust and bribe taking as absurd.
