PM Netanyahu praises President Trump for condemning rise of anti-Semitism

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump for publicly condemning anti-Semitic acts after several bomb-threats were issued against the Jewish community across the United States, as well as vandalism perpetrated by unknown assailants against Jewish cemeteries. President Trump’s comments were his first explicit condemnation of the anti-Semitic incidents, which Prime minister Netanyahu said, in his address to the Jewish community in Australia, was as part of a resurgence in anti-Semitism in many parts of the world.

“I also think that we have a battle against those who seek to demonize our people and the resurgent anti-Semitism that we see in many parts of the world. It is something that we need to fight together. I think this is important in Europe. It’s important in America. It’s very important that President Trump took a strong stand against anti-Semitism. And it’s important that we all continue to do so in the years ahead,” said Netanyahu.

Several Jewish community centers in the United States were evacuated briefly earlier this week after receiving bomb threats, while last weekend, unknown vandals toppled about 170 headstones at a Jewish cemetery in Saint Louis, Missouri.
