Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declared during his weekly cabinet meeting, that no matter who will be elected as the next President of the United States, the relations between Washington and Jerusalem will remain strong and will even continue to strengthen: “Whomever will be elected, I am confident that Israel-US relations, that are strong and solid, will become even stronger,” said Bibi.
With the US presidential election less than one day away, and with Israeli officials concerned that the Obama Administration may support a UN Security Council resolution that would set principles for a permanent Israeli-Palestinian agreement before the end of US President Barack Obama’s term in office, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on both Presidential nominees to stay loyal to the years-long principle in which only direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian would bring about an end to the conflict. “We expect that the US will remain committed to the principle she installed for many years, that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be solved only through direct negotiations without any pre-conditions and not via decisions of UN or other organizations,” iterated the Jewish leader.
Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s position in which it views the alliance with the United States as the most important relationship the Jewish state holds with its international partners, while noting that the Jewish state was not holding back on developing relations with other world powers, including China, Russia and India. “I would like to mention that the alliance with the US is the first and most important out of all the relationships we have. That is how it was and this is how it will remain. At the same time, Israel is developing relations with many other countries, including the world’s greatest powers,” concluded Netanyahu.
