Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh began his weekly cabinet meeting by warning that Ramallah could be facing “a hot summer,” due to what he referred to as Israel’s “illegal plans” to annex the “Palestinian side of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and the settlements.”
The Palestinian leader went on to caution against ‘dangerous repercussions of implementing such proposals,’ which he insisted would undermine the foundation of regional peace.
Shtayyeh concluded by calling on the international community “to take immediate practical steps to curb these attempts by recognizing the independent State of Palestine on the June 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.”
The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank did not immediately respond to TV7’s request for additional details.
