Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared, in an interview to the Russia Today television station in the Arabic language, that there was no alternative solution to peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and that the time for military options had passed. President Assad stressed that he had the impression, during his meeting in Washington with US President Donald Trump, that the American leader wanted to move quickly on finding ways to resolve the decades old conflict between Israel and Palestinians, with a time table of more or less one year.
Abbas further stated that the Palestinians were prepared to implement an Arab initiative, which was initially proposed by Saudi Arabia in 2002, whereby Israel would withdraw from what he referred to as ‘the occupied Arab and Palestinian lands’, after which all Arab states would establish normalized relations with it.
