Palestinian Islamists launched a barrage of rockets towards Israel‘s southern communities. Anti-rocket alert sirens were sounded across the Eshkol regional council early Sunday morning, during which five projectiles were fired from the Hamas-controlled territory. Thankfully, all of the rockets exploded in uninhabited areas, causing no injuries or damage. Regardless of the fact that no Palestinian group claimed responsibility for the heinous aggression, the IDF spokesperson’s unit said that Israeli tanks immediately responded by targeting several Hamas observation-posts along the Gaza frontier. It is important to note that despite the rocket-fire, which threatens to undermine ongoing Egyptian-mediated efforts to secure a ceasefire arrangement, Jerusalem decided to allow for the expansion of fishing zones off the coast of Gaza and ordered the opening of the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is the main commercial passageway between Israel and the Palestinian enclave.
