Norway has frozen more than half of its pledged aid to the Palestinian Authority’s Education Ministry this year. Transfer of the remaining funds has been strictly conditioned on an immediate revision of textbooks for Palestinian schoolchildren, which have been indicted for the promotion of terrorism.
The move marks the first time Oslo has withheld assistance from Ramallah and follows condemnation by the Norwegian Parliament of the Palestinian curriculum as ruinous for the advancement of a peace process with Israel.
The Norwegian measure comes in the wake of entirely separate charges leveled by the European Parliament last night which officially accused the PA’s educational curriculum of being rife with incitement to violence against Israel.
