Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed, during his address to the UN General Assembly, that the threat Iran poses to the international community is transparent and clear, while urging the international community to unite in an effort to push back against Islamic Republic’s aggression and acts of terror.
“So my point to you is this: the threat Iran poses to all of us, is not behind us, it’s before us. In the coming years, there must be a sustained and united effort to push back against Iran’s aggression and Iran’s terror. With the nuclear constraints one year closer to being removed, let me be clear: Israel will not allow the terrorist regime in Iran to develop nuclear weapons, not now, not in a decade, not ever,” stressed Israel’s leader.
The Shi’ite Muslim republic marked earlier this week the anniversary of its 1980′ invasion by Iraq by showing off its latest ships and missiles, during which it called on the United States not to meddle in the Parian and Arab Gulfs. At a parade in its capital Tehran, the Iranian military displayed long-range missiles, tanks, and the Russian-supplied S-300 surface-to-air missile system. At the port of Bandar Abbas on the Gulf, the navy showed off some 500 vessels, as well as submarines and helicopters, at a time of high tension with the United States in the strategic waterway. Among the weapons displayed was the new long-range “Zolfaqar” ballistic missile, named after a legendary sword said to have been given by the Muslim Prophet Mohammad to Imam Ali, the Islamic figure followed by Shi’ite Muslims.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani declared that all international attempts to dismantle his country’s nuclear enrichment program were defeated.
“To learn lessons from the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) and put them towards improving international relations, we should never forget that pressures, sanctions and illegal threats against the Iranian people, which sought to fully dismantle Iran’s enrichment program, were all defeated,” announced Rouhani.
