Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, following the sale of the Israeli driverless technology firm Mobileye to the American giant Intel, that the Jewish state was celebrating a boost to its economy. In a special press conference, attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mobileye CEO professor Amnon Sha’ashua and the Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, the Israeli leader said the sale, which amounts to about 15 billion dollars, would bring new jobs to Israelis and would benefit Israel’s citizens with substantial benefits.
“It brings investment and new jobs which are about to open in Jerusalem, great news, thousands of new jobs which bring in revenue into state funds. I have talked yesterday with the Minister of finance and we will advance what we have planned on advancing even before the deal, but it is much easier to do with the deal which is to move forward these finances into the pockets of the citizens in tax reductions and other ways,״ said Netanyahu.
Mobileye accounts for 70 percent of the global market for driver-assistance and anti-collision systems. It employs 660 people and had adjusted net income of 173.3 million dollars last year. Intel CEO Krzanich said that he expected driverless cars to ‘hit the roads’ by 2021, and that combining intel and Mobileye, would allow his company to integrate the Israeli technology into the global market and will establish a singular platform, end-to-end for their customers.
