A knife-wielding Palestinian stabbed 2 Israelis in Jerusalem today.
The attack occurred just after 1 PM local time at a light rail stop on Haim Barlev Street, near Israel Police headquarters and the Ammunition Hill monument.
Initial investigation indicates that an IDF soldier was stabbed after he rushed to aid another man who had been stabbed in the back by the assailant. A Border Police officer then opened fire at the perpetrator, who was shot and killed.
According to a statement TV7 obtained from the United Hatzalah volunteer paramedic organization, both victims suffered stab wounds to their upper bodies.
United Hatzalah volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Yechiel Stern, who was one of the first responders at the scene, relayed: “The two injured people were suffering stab wounds to their upper torso and they were in moderate condition.”
The victims, who are reportedly aged 23 and 21, were evacuated to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center on Mount Scopus.
The incident marks the first terror attack in the capital since the end of the Operation Guardian of the Walls conflict between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.
