A wave of violence, which has significantly diminished since October of last year, has yet again shown its ugly face, as sporadic attacks continue to surface. A Palestinian assailant reportedly hurled a rock from a moving vehicle at an Israeli army-vehicle, which then gave-chase, forcing the assailant’s car to a standstill shortly afterwards. When an Israeli soldier approached the vehicle, the assailant exited the car and managed to stab the soldier in the neck, inflicting light wounds. According to the IDF spokesperson’s unit, the soldier then managed to push the attacker backwards and shot him dead.
A picture of the dead assailant circulated on social media showed him sitting in the driver’s seat. An Islamic Jihad militant source named the driver as 26-year-old Sari Abu Ghrab, from the northern Palestinian village of Qabatia, which is located in the West Bank. Since October of last year, Palestinian assailants have killed some 33 Israelis and two American tourists visiting the Jewish state. Some 208 Palestinians have been killed, 141 of whom Israel said committed acts of terror, while the others died during violent clashes with Israeli security forces.
