Israel, a ‘committed partner’ in Washington’s efforts to curb Iran’s malign activities

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting in Jerusalem yesterday with the U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, who also serves as a senior Policy Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. During a short-televised encounter, ahead of the scheduled meeting that was held behind closed doors, Prime Minister Netanyahu once again congratulated President Donald Trump for the sanctions, which the Israeli leader underscored “is vital for both regional and global peace and security.” He said, “I want to welcome you to Israel Brian, and I want to congratulate the President and your team for the powerful sanctions against Iran. It’s the most important thing that has been done against the most aggressive power in the region, it has to be rolled back. I think the sanctions are a very important American step to establish peace in our region and peace in the world.”

The Special American Representative for Iran hailed the Jewish State as a “fantastic and committed partner” in the U.S. efforts to curb Tehran’s malign activities, while vowing to continue going after the Islamic Republic’s revenue streams that it uses to fund terrorism. According to Hook, “Now that we have reimpose our sanctions, were in the position to really go after all of the revenue streams that Iran uses to fund Hamas and Hezbollah, its missile proliferation… all of the threats to peace and security that Iran presents. You [Netanyahu] are a fantastic and committed partner in this endeavor, and we are very grateful for all the support you give.”
