Iran displayed what it described as a domestically built mobile surface-to-air missile system with long-range capabilities.
Iranian-state media showed footage depicting President Hassan Rouhani attending the unveiling ceremony for the Bavar-373 system, which Tehran authorities described as a competitor to the Russian S-300 missile system. The system’s unveiling came on the Islamic Republic ‘s National Defense Industry Day.
It is important to note that Western military analysts often accuse Iran of exaggerating regarding its weapons capabilities. That said, concerns over Iran’s long-range ballistic missile program – which is viewed as “one of four pillars” in Tehran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapon capabilities – attributed to Washington’s decision to leave the 2015 nuclear agreement.
