A senior Hamas delegation held talks in Beirut with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to discuss bilateral relations between the Islamist-Palestinian group and the Islamic Republic, among other issues. According to a Hamas statement, Larijani reaffirmed his country’s unrelenting support of the Palestinian people and their (violent) resistance (against the Jewish State). He also stressed Tehran’s keen aspirations to further bolster ties with the Gaza-rulers.
In related developments, former Hamas chief Khaled Mashal headed a delegation in Qatar to hold consultations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov.
The Russian diplomat also expressed Moscow’s backing of the Palestinian people. He also restated his country’s rejection of any peace plan refused by the Palestinians, in reference to the Mideast proposal by US President Donald Trump.
