This, according to Palestinian medical officials following the clash in the West Bank town of Halhul yesterday.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that dozens of Palestinians hurled rocks and explosive devices at soldiers, who responded with live fire after the failure of riot dispersal means.
The Israeli army said the violence erupted during a counterterrorism mission that included the confiscation of terror funds. Witnesses confirmed that the troops sealed off a currency exchange office after entering Halhul.
In other related developments, the IDF announced that hundreds of Palestinians hurled firebombs and rocks at soldiers in Nablus overnight Wednesday, during joint missiond conducted by the army, Israel Security Agency (ISA) and Israel Border Police forces. Another riot broke in the town of Tamun, where Palestinians threw firebombs at the Israeli security forces, who responded with live fire.
No IDF injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
Twelve individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities were captured and multiple munitions were seized during the operation, said the IDF. The weapons included M-16 rifles, grenades, cartridges and ammunition.
The Israeli defense establishment has been conducting ongoing counterterrorism raids as part of Operation Waves Breaker following a surge of Palestinian / Arab attacks that have claimed the lives of 19 people in Israel since January.
