Israeli aircraft are alleged to have conducted deadly bombardments on operation centers in Syria belonging to Iran, its proxy Hezbollah and other Shi’ite militias controlled by Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
According to corroborated reports, numerous missiles were fired from southern Lebanese airspace in the direction of Damascus just before 5 AM this morning,. The Syrian military immediately activated its aerial defense array including the launching of numerous missiles to try and counter the attack, yet failed to thwart the destruction of the Iranian military installations.
At least seven people were killed in the attack, including four militiamen. Syrian government and opposition forces also confirmed the deaths of three civilians due to location of the military sites in densely populated areas.
The Syrian state SANA news agency reported that the civilian deaths occurred in the Al-Hujaira and Al-Adliya towns near Damascus area, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights maintained that has not yet been ascertained whether they died due to shrapnel wounds caused by Israeli missiles or the Syrian air defense systems.
It is important to note that while Syria has attributed full responsibility for the strikes to Israel, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit has declined to either confirm or deny involvement.
