Joint-IDF, Border Police and Civil Administration forces entered the Palestinian town of Beit Kahil near the West Bank city of Hebron in a pre-dawn operation, to demolish the residences of four terrorists who murdered 19-year-old Israeli soldier Dvir Sorek on 7 August 2019.
The victim’s body was found bearing multiple stab wounds on the side of a road near the Israeli settlement of Migdal Oz, close to the seminary where he studied as part of a program which combines Biblical Torah studies with military service.
Sorek was neither armed or wearing a military uniform when he was attacked and killed.
The families of the four terrorists were informed of this morning’s intended operation by the IDF Civil Administration, in accordance with Jerusalem’s policy of retribution for terror-related activities which includes the legally-binding destruction of perpetrators’ homes. The killers’ families had appealed the order to the Supreme Court of Justice in Jerusalem, which was rejected.
Shortly after the completion of this morning’s operation, Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett commented,”Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that there will not be any more terror attacks, but those who raise their hand on Israeli citizens must pay a heavy price.”
