According to a statement TV7 obtained from the IMoD Spokesperson’s Office, the goal of the Carmel program is the significant improvement of IDF maneuvering capabilities that will be applied to all current and future AFV.
The concept is being conducted in cooperation with the IDF Ground Forces and the Tank and APC Directorate. The innovative operational program will be combined with state-of-the-art technologies to provide solutions for future warfare in which small crews will be able to rely extensively on autonomous capabilities and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to streamline battle management and minimize risk to human lives on both sides.
Carmel’s innovative user interface will provide a range of autonomous and AI-driven platforms to IDF military personnel within closed AFV hatches. These include travel, detection of threats, defense and automatic acquisition of target abilities, while multi-dimensional views of battlefields via will enable service members to effectively assess situations and make optimal decisions.
During the pilot stage of the program, Carmel technologies will be integrated into the “Eitan” AFV.
“The Carmel concept is groundbreaking on a global scale and has garnered the interest of many international industries and militaries,” said the IMoD statement.
