Deputy Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri declared that the Islamist Palestinian organization would never recognize Israel and would not give up its right to violent resistance, while emphasizing that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would remain, even if a Palestinian state were established within the 1967 borders. Al-Arouri, who is on a visit to the Iranian capital of Tehran, further stressed that Hamas hopes to continue receiving Iran’s support, to provide the Palestinian group with means that would support Hamas’ ongoing resistance against Israel. During a meeting with Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani, the deputy Hamas leader al Arouri revealed that as of today, “The main and primary benefactor supporting (Hamas’ armed wing) the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades in developing their capabilities, whether through knowledge or assistance, is Iran.”
