Israel was once again targeted by Palestinian-Islamist rocket fire in the early morning hours today, prompting IDF retaliatory bombardments against military installations in the Hamas-controlled enclave.
2 rockets were launched just after 4:30 AM from northern Gaza Strip toward the Israeli coastline, near the city of Ashdod. Israel’s aerial defense system locked onto the trajectory of the incoming projectiles, but did not activate air raid sirens after failing to identify an immediate threat to populated areas.
Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets responded to the attack about 2 hours later by striking Hamas military targets throughout the Gaza, including a site utilized for subterranean operations.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit informed TV7 that all of the targeted installations belong to “the Hamas terror organization, which is responsible for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it.”
The Israel Defense Forces further reiterated that it “views any terror activity against Israel with great severity and is ready to continue operating as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians or sovereignty.”
