Israel has suffered its first coronavirus-related death, with the number of citizens confirmed to have been infected rising to 1,238; 24 of whom are in serious condition.
The first fatality of the disease was Aryeh Even, who was an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor. Evan, who suffered from previous illnesses, succumbed after battling COVID-19 for a week. He passed away in Jerusalem on Friday night and was laid to rest the following day by a small group of the Jewish Burial Society, as no family members were able to attend his final rites.
