The Syrian army and its Iranian-backed allies continue to battle across the war-torn-country, making gains on several fronts. The most strategic advance was reported in the rebel-held area of the southern Aleppo province, where Assad’s air force bombed jihadist-rebels that have known links to Al-Qaeda.
A Syrian source told TV7 that the advance in the southern countryside of Aleppo province comes as the Syrian army seeks to enter the northern section of the rebel-held Idlib countryside, from where it then would seek to conquer the Abu Al-Duhur military airport. The airport, which is currently under the control of Jihadist militants, would grant Damascus a significant victory that would effectively establish a foundation for the Syrian army to retake most of Idlib province, which is currently infested by Jihadist rebels from different organizations, including fighters loyal to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.
