The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit informed TV7 that the U.S.-Israeli Juniper Cobra military exercise, has been cancelled over coronavirus concerns.
The joint drill began on Tuesday and was slated to conclude on 13 March.
The biennial training program is aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination between the IDF and the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) in promotion of bilateral learning and enhancement of aerial defense capabilities.
The decision to halt Juniper-Cobra follows a situation assessment by the IDF Chief of the Staff and EUCOM leaders in accordance with the latest COVID-19 guidelines published by the Israeli Ministry of Health.
In its statement, the IDF highlighted its appreciation of the cooperative relations it has the U.S. military, and that it forward to joint exercises in the future.
