A Palestinian assailant armed with a knife and wearing what appeared to be an explosive device, charged toward Israeli border-police forces stationed next to the West Bank settlement of Beit El. The Israeli troops responded by opening fire toward the Palestinian assailant, which according to a Palestinian medical team that treated him, resulted in the attackers’ death. A Palestinian medic who helped evacuate the assailant for treatment in a Ramallah hospital, claimed the explosive device that was strapped to his belt was fake, yet TV7 was unable to verify the validity of his claim. Following the incident, a senior border-police officer told TV7 that the troops operated in a very professional manner and thwarted a potential disaster, in which the Palestinian terrorist clearly sought to harm Israeli civilians.
