Damascus reaches major understanding with Arab states

Syrian President Bashar Assad revealed that Syria has reached a “major understanding” with Arab states after years of hostility over the country’s civil war. In his first interview since 2011, the Syrian leader stated to a Gulf-Arab newspaper ‘the years long conflict in his country was nearing its end,’ a fact that brought most of the international community to terms with the imminent victory of Damascus, which remains the sole legitimate authority in Syria. Assad noted that many Arab and Western delegations have already begun visiting his country’s capital to prepare for the reopening of their respective diplomatic and other missions – a reality which, according to the Syrian President, proves his position. Assad further stressed that Soon the civil war will be over, a critical step that will allow Syria to resume its pivotal role in the region.
