Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a joint press conference with visiting Slovakian President Andre Kiska, that he will make good on a promise to Israeli settlers evicted from a West Bank outpost, to erect a new Jewish settlement.
“I made a promise that we would establish a new settlement, I think I made the first commitment in December and we will keep it today. There are a few hours until then and you will get all the details,” said Netanyahu.
Netanyahu’s announcement came just a few hours before he convened Israel’s security cabinet, during which the Prime Minister notified his ministers that a new settlement will be built for the residents of Amona, the illegal outpost that was evicted early last month, and in addition, Netanyahu approved the construction of 2,000 housing units in existing West Bank settlements.
