A Palestinian terrorist opened fire in a bustling Israeli market, injuring six people, before being arrested by police. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told TV7 that a Palestinian from the West Bank opened fire with an automatic weapon in a marketplace in the city of Petah Tikva, shooting two people in the legs, before his weapon was probably jammed, after which he charged at several Israelis with a screwdriver, injuring four others. Bystanders were able to overpower the assailant, before police forces arrived at the scene and arrested the terrorist.
“God saved us. There was a shooting at innocent people, he shot towards them, with a weapon – that long (showing with his hands) it was unbelievable. He was shooting towards innocents and we, with stones managed to stop him.” The wounded civilians were taken to the Beilinson hospital in the city for treatment.
An Israeli Arab was beaten by passersby who mistook him for the terrorist. The 35-year-old man from northern Israel, was just finishing his shopping the Petah Tikva market when the incident started. He suffered head a leg injuries and was evacuated to the Beilinson Hospital for treatment.
