Palestinian officials warned the new administration in Washington that moving the US embassy to Jerusalem would take President Donald Trump out of the equation and make him part of the problem in the Middle East and not the solution. They further warned that the Palestinians would go to the UN General Assembly and demand that Israel’s membership be suspended, in response to the American move.
The Palestinian Authority asked Jordan for assistance in opening a direct line of communications with the new Trump administration. The request arose during a meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah of Jordan. According to verified reports, no direct line between the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah and the Trump administration has been opened to date.
