German FM: “peace and security can only be achieved through implementation of a two-state solution”

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed, during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, that only through the establishment of a two-state solution, Israel and the Palestinians could live in security and co-exist side by side. “It remains the simple truth – this perspective for peace can only be achieved with a two-state solution in the Middle East, if security for Israel as well as Palestine is ensured, if the two states can peacefully co-exist side by side,” said Steinmeier. Last week, in an interview US President Barack Obama gave to Israeli media, the American leader held back from answering whether he planned on refraining from vetoing anti-Israeli resolutions yet again, if the UN Security Council would be presented with a draft in the coming days, yet emphasized that he would be President until the very last day of his term.
