Rivlin: Israel seeks peace, yet will defend itself

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin visited the separation fence with the Gaza Strip, during which he emphasized that the Jewish States seeks to live in peace and security with its Palestinian neighbors. The Israeli head of state emphasized however, during a tour together with IDF chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, that Israel’s armed forces would do anything to distance any harm directed at the Jewish state, while maintaining a high level of morality.

“I would like to say that the relations with Gaza are very complex, we want to live in quiet, I have no shadow of a doubt that the population in Gaza wants to leave in quiet. We don’t seek to subvert their lives, yet they bring about a reality in which they seek to disrupt our lives. The IDF’s conduct are done with great deliberations and deep thought, for every single action.” / The IDF acts together with others security agencies in the country in order to distance any harm from the state of Israel, any many times we must take action based on information that demand it of us at the specific hour,” said Rivlin.

The President’s tour comes as Israel marks two years since the last war in Gaza against the Islamist Hamas organization and its allies.
